FOC 9-7-2026: Absolute Batman, TMNT, X-Men & More
This week's Final Order Cutoff (FOC) for September 7, 2026 is what happens when publishers collectively decide your shelves were looking a little too comfortable. Absolute editions, omnibuses, deluxe hardcovers, compendiums, restored classics, manga, roleplaying books — this one is less a preorder list and more a coordinated attack on available storage.
The biggest collector release may be Absolute Batman: The Black Mirror, bringing Scott Snyder, Jock, and Francesco Francavilla’s acclaimed Detective Comics run back in prestige Absolute format. The book collects Detective Comics #871–881 with sketches, designs, and additional material. It’s one of those stories that already has a reputation, now presented in the sort of format designed to make your existing copy feel inadequate. Very thoughtful of DC.
Batman collectors have plenty of other decisions to make. Batman: The Silver Age Omnibus Vol. 2 continues the massive archival line, DC Finest: Batman — The Curse of Crime Alley dives into a noir-heavy stretch of Gotham history, and Batman: Beyond the White Knight Deluxe Edition gives Sean Gordon Murphy’s sequel the oversized treatment. There’s also Batman Vol. 2: Blood & Money from Matt Fraction and Jorge Jiménez, available in both hardcover and paperback, because apparently one Batman format would have been too easy.
The Green Lantern shelf is also doing some serious work this week. Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps by Robert Venditti Omnibus Vol. 1 collects a sizable chunk of Venditti’s cosmic run, while Absolute Green Lantern Vol. 3: Anomalies continues Al Ewing and Sid Kotian’s horror-tinged reinvention. Add Green Lantern Corps Vol. 3: Guy Gardner — Born Again?, and suddenly “I collect Green Lantern” becomes less of a hobby and more of a storage strategy.
DC’s broader collector lineup is just as strong. JSA Compendium Two continues Geoff Johns and David Goyer’s landmark run, Legion of Super-Heroes by Mark Waid and Barry Kitson Omnibus gathers their reinvention of the Legion, and New Teen Titans Omnibus Vol. 3 returns in a new edition. Rorschach by Tom King and Jorge Fornés gets the Deluxe Edition treatment, while World’s Finest: The Deluxe Edition brings Dave Gibbons, Steve Rude, and Karl Kesel’s 1990 miniseries back in an appropriately nice package.
Marvel’s biggest shelf-breaker is X-Men: Age of Krakoa — Reign of X Omnibus Vol. 2, covering another enormous stretch of the Krakoa era, including Hellfire Gala material across multiple mutant titles. X-fans also get X-Factor Epic Collection: The Morlock Massacre and X-Men of Apocalypse, while Wolverine returns with Weapons of Armageddon. Apparently mutants have decided September belongs to them.
There’s some fun weirdness elsewhere at Marvel, too. Marvel Multiverse Role-Playing Game: Godzilla adds kaiju-scale rules, maps, monster profiles, and an original comic story to the tabletop system. Venom: Behind the Masque continues Mary Jane Watson’s run as Venom, and Deadly Hands of K’Un-Lun pulls Marvel’s martial artists into another supernatural fight. Comics remain extremely committed to answering questions nobody was sensible enough to ask.
Outside the Big Two, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles by Jason Aaron Deluxe Edition is an easy standout, collecting the first 12 issues of Aaron’s new TMNT era in an oversized hardcover with extras. Dark Horse brings Cyberpunk 2077 Omnibus Vol. 2, The Best of Fantagor, Appleseed Companion Deluxe Edition, and The Art of The Forever Winter, giving art-book, manga, and restored-classic collectors plenty to consider.
There’s also Star Trek: The Edges of the Final Frontier in IDW’s compact Classic Collections format, Magic: The Gathering — Untold Stories: Jace, Dungeons & Dragons: The Fallbacks Vol. 1, and The Center Holds from Larry Hama and Mark Bright, available in both hardcover and paperback. So yes, this week genuinely does have something for just about every flavor of nerd. Efficient.
Short version: this is one of those FOC weeks where the premium formats are doing most of the talking. If you collect Absolute editions, omnibuses, deluxe hardcovers, compendiums, or restored archival books, there are several releases here worth locking in early.
Pre-order before FOC on September 7, 2026 to make sure your copies are accounted for. Because “I’ll buy it later” continues to be a perfectly reasonable sentence right up until the book is out of print and someone on eBay has developed a very ambitious opinion of its value.
