WHAT THE SALES SHOW

The casting announcement moved first.

Around Jason Momoa's December 30, 2024 casting confirmation, the 30-day median rose from $250 (14 sales) to $373 (53 sales), a 49.2% increase. The broader 90-day comparison also rose, from $252 (53) to $351 (101), or +39.3%. January 2025's monthly median reached $373 across 47 sales, versus $251 across 20 sales in November 2024.

The December 11, 2025 first teaser, which gave audiences their first look at Momoa's Lobo, coincided with a smaller increase: $276 (18) in the 30 days before versus $325 (21) after, or +17.8%. The 90-day comparison was +12.8%.

The theatrical release moved the other way. In the 30 days before June 26, 2026, the median was $291 (24); in the 30 days after, it was $260.50 (28), a 10.5% decline. The 90-day comparison fell 16.4%, from $299 to $250.

The movie cycle was visible — but not at the lifetime high.

The long view uses all 25 GPA annual summaries, representing 2,915 recorded transactions. The highest annual average in the capture was $342 in 2023, before Momoa's casting was confirmed. The 2024 average was $294, 2025 was $317, and partial-year 2026 was $300. The lifetime highest individual recorded sale was $495 on March 14, 2024, also before the casting announcement.

Supergirl also brought Lobo back into publishing.

DC's March 18, 2026 Summer of Supergirl Special announcement put Lobo directly opposite Supergirl and described a wider film-season publishing program. The special went on sale June 24, two days before the North American film release. That overlap means the release window reflects a combined media and publishing cycle rather than a clean movie-only treatment.

The film itself opened June 26 in North America. Contemporary box-office reporting put the domestic opening weekend at $38 million and the worldwide debut at $68 million. Those results are context, not an input to the price calculations.

What the sequence suggests

The market reacted most strongly when the role became concrete: Momoa's casting confirmation. A first-look teaser produced another, smaller positive comparison. By theatrical release, however, Omega Men #3 was already below its early-2025 post-casting range, and the immediate post-release comparison was negative. The observed pattern is therefore better described as announcement-driven repricing followed by normalization than as a durable release premium.
